  • The technology company The Mobility House has joined the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA).
  • The two players are keen to work side by side in driving forward the transformation of the mobility and energy sectors to make sure the climate targets are achieved.
  • The Mobility House focuses on smart, bidirectional charging and, with its technology, has formed the foundation of an efficient grid and energy market integration of electric vehicles.

The German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) and The Mobility House are now joining forces. The technology company and new VDA member will provide input for an efficient grid and energy market integration. After all, it’s becoming increasingly clear that, if the mobility sector is to be successfully revolutionized, the ecosystem must grow at an appropriately rapid rate too. “We’re delighted to welcome The Mobility House on board as a new VDA member. For the transformation to be successful, we require rapid and consistent expansion of the charging infrastructure in Germany and Europe alike. And not only that; the potential that electromobility harbors needs to be exploited further too. A smart and bidirectional integration of electric cars in a way that benefits the grid is an additional opportunity in this respect. This will help to optimize the transformation towards climate-neutral mobility and enable vehicles to make a valuable contribution to stabilizing the power grid,” explained Hildegard Müller, President of the VDA.

Since electromobility developments are being scaled up, huge electricity storage capacities are being created in the form of electric vehicle batteries that stabilize the power grid and optimize the use of renewable energies. Charging processes can also be automatically postponed to times when an above-average amount of CO2-free electricity generated from renewable energy producers is available in the grids. Smart charging also takes into account the existing grid limitations at domestic connections and in the distribution grid. Electromobility has thus become an indispensable resource, helps to further optimize CO2 in the energy system and enables totally CO2-free mobility. “Networking between the individual sectors is a key step in achieving a faster expansion of renewable energies and nationwide development of the charging infrastructure in Germany. That is why we are delighted to be working with the VDA. After all, the only way we can shape the new automotive world in a way that still safeguards our innovation and market leadership, yet takes our climate-related responsibilities into account, is by working together. The integration of electric vehicles in a way that benefits the grid is the solution to this problem. The regulatory framework conditions for this have to be established now,” explained Marcus Fendt, CEO of The Mobility House.

With twelve years of market experience The Mobility House can look back on numerous internationally successful pioneering projects with partners like Renault, Daimler, Volkswagen and Audi. ChargePilot, the hardware-agnostic Charging and Energy Management system, and the underlying EV aggregation platform were both tested by the General German Automobile Club (ADAC) and recently crowned winner of the Handelsblatt Energy Award.
