The vision: #ZeroZero – zero emissions at zero cost. The Mobility House Solutions wants to reshape the way we think about electric mobility. Central to this vision is the idea that charging does not always have to cost money. Smart charging, vehicle-grid-integration (VGI), and fluctuating energy prices can significantly improve both the energy and cost balance of any fleet. Now, this vision is entering a new phase: with dynamic tariff optimization, companies can take the profitability of their electric fleets to the next level.
Smart Technology that Makes It Possible: ChargePilot
The foundation for this is ChargePilot, the charging and energy management system that connects the electric fleet with the energy system as a smart interface. The locally integrated ChargePilot Controller manages energy flows in real time and makes optimal use of the available grid connection, eliminating the need for expensive grid extensions. By balancing peak loads and distributing available power efficiently, it also significantly reduces operating costs.
Dynamic Tariff Optimization Reduces Energy Costs by up to 50%
With dynamic tariff optimization, electric fleets are now a big step closer to the #ZeroZero goal: Whether cars, buses, or vans, ChargePilot enables customers of The Mobility House Solutions to reduce their energy costs by an average of 25-30%.
This is achieved by allowing the intelligent charging and energy management system to control charging based on real-time spot market prices. Vehicles are charged preferably when energy prices are low. ChargePilot leverages this price volatility in the energy market with dynamic tariff optimization, regardless of which electricity provider a company uses.
Across the European energy market, prices fluctuate dramatically, sometimes even dropping into negative territory. When large amounts of renewable energy are fed into the grid, supply can exceed demand. In those moments, energy customers can even be paid to use electricity. In 2024, there were 457 hours of negative electricity prices in Germany alone.
By charging their fleets with green electricity, companies can not only improve their carbon footprint but also save money. This takes corporate sustainability efforts to a whole new level.
Reliability Comes First, Savings as a Bonus
To ensure reliable fleet operation alongside cost savings, ChargePilot follows a simple principle: mobility before price. The smooth operation of the fleet always takes priority.
The system’s decision hierarchy is as follows:
- Ensure compliance with local power limits
- Maintain mobility requirements
- Minimize costs
Dynamic tariff optimization proves its worth in fleets with short downtimes and tight schedules, something The Mobility House Solutions has already demonstrated successfully at Amsterdam Airport. Through intelligent charging of Transdev Connexxion’s bus fleet, overall energy cost savings were reduced by around 30% without affecting ongoing operations.
Following successful pilot projects with dynamic tariff optimization at DC charging sites, The Mobility House Solutions is now extending their offer to customers with AC charging infrastructure as well.
"We are continuously developing ChargePilot to intelligently connect vehicles and energy. Dynamic tariff optimization takes this a step further, reducing strain on the grid and helping fleets operate even more economically."
