The Mobility House is bringing its North American business to the US cleantech company PowerFlex. As part of a share swap, PowerFlex acquires The Mobility House North America. In return, The Mobility House will receive a stake in PowerFlex and thus remain involved in the further growth of the combined company.
The transaction brings together two companies with complementary strengths. In particular, The Mobility House North America will contribute its technology and market position in smart charging of school bus, public transport and fleet depots, as well as its experience in integrating electric vehicles into the energy system. With ChargePilot®, the company already controls more than 100 megawatts of charging power for over 150 fleet operators in the USA and Canada. In addition, The Mobility House North America is implementing seven vehicle grid integration projects with electric school buses in several US states from the East to the West coast. PowerFlex complements this with a comprehensive platform for fleet charging, charging infrastructure, solar energy, battery storage and multi-site energy management.
For The Mobility House, the transaction is also a further logical step in the strategic focus of the company. In the future, The Mobility House will concentrate its operational resources and technology development even more strongly in Europe, where it will focus on the energy business with vehicle-to-grid and vehicle-to-home applications. The focus is on the aggregation and optimization of vehicle and stationary batteries on the energy markets.
In the European energy business, The Mobility House Energy now optimizes more than one gigawatt of storage capacity in 47 projects and four countries. In the vehicle-to-grid sector, The Mobility House Energy launched the world's first commercial V2G offering in France in 2024 together with Renault. Other V2G partnerships include Europe-wide cooperation with Mercedes-Benz and Toyota for intelligent charging services as well as technological support for Volkswagen Group Charging in the planned market ramp-up of an integrated V2G offer for Volkswagen, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles and CUPRA in Germany.

Leading position in intelligent charging of bus and fleet depots
With its charging and energy management system ChargePilot®, The Mobility House North America has established a leading position in the intelligent charging management of large school bus, public transport and other fleet depots in North America. The technology now controls more than 100 megawatts of charging power in the U.S. and Canada and is used by more than 150 leading fleet operators. Thanks to its manufacturer-independent architecture, the platform is compatible with more than 80 charger models.
Worldwide, ChargePilot® controls more than 50,000 vehicles at over 2,700 charging depots. The hybrid cloud and edge architecture enables the reliable operation of the charging infrastructure even with limited grid availability and at the same time forms the technical basis for the use of electric fleets as flexible energy resources.
With the vehicle grid integration platform Cascade, The Mobility House North America bundles the flexibility of vehicle batteries and makes them usable for grid services such as demand response. Fleets temporarily adjust their electricity consumption or recovery in times of high grid load, thus helping to reduce peak loads. In California, the company is already using the technology in PG&E's Emergency Load Reduction Program. In Massachusetts, The Mobility House is involved in one of the largest state-sponsored V2X programs in the U.S., installing up to 100 bidirectional charging systems in homes, businesses, and school districts. California and Massachusetts are examples of a total of seven VGI projects that The Mobility House North America is implementing in several US states.

Complementary platform for fleets and distributed energy
PowerFlex is part of EDF power solutions North America and also backed by Manulife. The company manages more than 70,000 charging points and has already installed over 500 megawatts of commercial solar power and more than 50 megawatt hours of battery storage in the U.S. The PowerFlex-X platform connects and optimizes charging infrastructure, photovoltaic systems and battery storage systems at site level.
The companies also complement each other in their customer segments: PowerFlex has a strong position in large commercial fleets, including logistics, municipal and utility fleets. The Mobility House North America brings special experience in school buses and public transport companies. Together, the companies will be able to cover a broader spectrum of fleet electrification in the future – from charging and energy management software to infrastructure, solar energy and battery storage.
Continuity for customers and partners
For customers and partners of The Mobility House North America, operational continuity is maintained. Existing contracts, services and contact persons will be retained. Gregor Hintler (CEO of The Mobility House North America) is moving to PowerFlex and continuing to work with customers and partners.
The two companies plan to gradually merge their software platforms and further develop the product features. In the future, customers will benefit from additional engineering capacities, a broader energy platform and new possibilities in vehicle-to-grid, solar energy, battery storage and integrated site energy management.
