Vehicle-to-grid for the mass market: scalable and interoperable bidirectional charging station from The Mobility House, EcoG and EV-Tech

June 17, 2026|Munich

  • The Mobility House, together with EcoG and Zhejiang EV-Tech Co., Ltd., develops and certifies Europe's most scalable bidirectional DC wallbox.
  • Universal blueprint for the automotive and energy industries: EcoG ensures full compliance with ISO 15118-2 and ISO 15118-20 and OCPP 2.1, with guaranteed interoperability across all future vehicle classes using 800-volt technology.
  • One-stop shop for bidirectional charging: The Mobility House brings together hardware, intelligent energy management (V2G + V2H) and commercial flexibility trading under one roof for the first time.
  • The bidirectional DC wallbox ChargeLine BiDi will be on display at Power2Drive in Munich at the EcoG booth (B6.130), including a live demo with a VW ID.3, and at The Mobility House booth (B6.510) from June 23 to 26.

The breakthrough for bidirectional charging at mass scale is within reach. In a pioneering collaboration, the leading German technology companies The Mobility House and EcoG, with the support of Chinese high-tech champion EV-Tech, which specializes in high-voltage energy systems, have brought the ultra-compact, highly efficient 11 kW DC wallbox ChargeLine BiDi to series maturity and certified it -finally making the electric vehicle an active part of self-consumption optimization and the energy system. The first prominent OEM customers are already on board and are securing the market ramp-up.

A universal blueprint for the entire automotive and energy industry

What makes this joint approach special is that ChargeLine BiDi is not a proprietary standalone system. It is consistently based on the latest industry standards ISO 15118-20 and OCPP 2.1 - and remains compatible with the previous versions ISO 15118-2 as well as OCPP 2.0.1 and OCPP 1.6 to fully ensure interoperability with vehicles and backends already available in the market. This combination of full standards compliance, 800-volt technology and the ability to customize the system for individual customers is available on the market for the first time. This means ChargeLine BiDi is designed for the vehicle market of tomorrow: by 2030, the majority of performance electric vehicles will rely on 800-volt architectures for high efficiency.

This means any automotive manufacturer can immediately replicate this technology for its own customer ecosystem. Any ISO 15118-20-compatible electric vehicle can charge and discharge at the charging station. Over-the-air updates also allow the station to be updated after purchase to ensure long-term compatibility. This lays the foundation for using millions of vehicle batteries as decentralized energy storage systems, balancing peak loads in the grid and enabling EV drivers to achieve significant cost benefits through active participation in the energy market.

The same applies to energy suppliers: any utility can connect its OCPP 2.1 backend to ChargeLine BiDi for charge control. This allows both automotive manufacturers and energy suppliers to seamlessly integrate the bidirectional wallbox into their existing offering.

With ChargeLine BiDi, The Mobility House closes the final gap in its one-stop shop for bidirectional charging

As a provider of integrated vehicle-to-grid (V2G) and vehicle-to-home (V2H) solutions, The Mobility House now offers its customers, for the first time, a fully integrated solution comprising hardware, energy management and flexibility trading from a single source.

Sales will take place via selected OEM partners as well as qualified installation and distribution partners. Interested companies and end customers can already register online and receive further information on availability, technical specifications and the relevant procurement channels.

For OEM partners, ChargeLine BiDi is available immediately for integration tests. Deliveries to wholesalers, installation partners and distribution partners will begin in autumn 2026. Prices will be communicated by the partners shortly.

Technological Highlights

  • Compact 11 kW DC power: optimally sized for charging and discharging in private and semi-public spaces. 800-volt technology - future-proof from day one: as a standalone wallbox, ChargeLine BiDi is fully compatible with 800-volt high-voltage platforms. No compromises in the vehicle portfolio due to a limitation to 400 V systems, which will become the minority in the future.
  • Integrated energy management: V2G and V2H from a single source, from participation in energy markets to self-consumption optimization. An open edge-computing unit based on EcoG OS brings local intelligence directly into the wallbox. Through cooperation with various HEMS partners, more than 80% of all PV, storage and heat pump combinations in the market are covered.
  • Reliable & future-proof with EcoG OS: the control technology and integrated operating system ensure continuous interoperability with V2G-capable vehicles in the market through over-the-air updates and seamless adaptation to regulatory developments. Operated and proven on more than 25,000 active charging points worldwide.
  • Maximum brand compatibility: full support for ISO 15118-2 and ISO 15118-20 as well as OCPP 2.1 and the previous versions OCPP 2.0.1 and OCPP 1.6 ensures interoperability with bidirectional vehicles and backend systems already available today and in the future
  • Cybersecurity according to EU standards: encrypted vehicle communication, NIS 2-compliant and EN 18031-certified. Future-proof for the regulatory requirements of the energy market.
  • Triple-certified for the European market: TÜV-tested according to EN 18031 (cybersecurity incl. OTA and network protection), VDE-AR-N 4105 (grid connection incl. grid code and active power reduction) and IEC 61851-24 (vehicle communication and Low Voltage Directive). The BiDi wallbox is already certified for the German market and will be certified for Austria, Switzerland, France and the UK in 2026. Further countries will follow.

"With ChargeLine BiDi, we are adding another building block to our ecosystem: what we have built over the years in the energy markets with FlexibilityAggregator and FlexibilityTrader, we are now bringing directly to the end customer's wall, unlocking the home itself as a source of value for the first time. From the energy market to the garage: everything from a single source."
