How it works.

Cascade allows electric vehicles to serve as energy storage assets and provide energy services such as demand response, dynamic rate optimization, and grid constraint management. Cascade works with each charge management system at thousands of sites to create flexibility for the distribution grid. The platform can manage both unidirectional smart charging to incentivize load shifting (V1G) and bidirectional vehicle-to-grid (V2G) chargers exporting power from EV batteries to the grid.

Listen

Cascade receives signals from utilities or market programs.

Optimize

Cascade creates individualized charging plans that are optimized to the signal and to vehicle mobility needs.

Communicate

Engages with EV fleet charge management systems and residential chargers across a service area.

Aggregate

Aggregates the response to provide essential grid services, including load reduction and export.

smart charging and flexible service connection in fleet electrification

FIX Flexible Interconnection

Grid operators and electric utility providers can use flexible interconnection to enable reliable charging of EV fleets in constrained distribution systems. A flexible service interconnection enables EV charging to safely exceed the capacity of an electric service panel and/or utility infrastructure limitations within agreed-upon operating parameters, enabling utilities to plan and install or upgrade necessary grid components while accommodating charging requests with greater flexibility. This can allow customers to avoid years-long delays and potentially prohibitively costly grid upgrades.
