Special Features when Charging Your Volkswagen Golf GTE:
Volkswagen wants to bring electric mobility closer to the customer with the Volkswagen Golf GTE. Those driving the Golf GTE can choose between two modes: electric or petrol-powered driving. The plug-in hybrid comes with a small 8.7 kWh battery, which can be used to drive for a range of up to 50 km (according to NEDC). This range always depends on factors such as road conditions, your driving style and the season. You can charge your Volkswagen GTE at home with ease using a wallbox. With a battery capacity of 8.7 kWh and a charging power of 3.6 kW, you will be able to enjoy the full driving range after just 2.5 or so hours of charging.
It’s also entirely possible to charge the car at 2.3 kW using a domestic socket. You will need a type 2 plug and a mode 2 charging cable for charging. However, for safety reasons, we would advise against charging it regularly via a domestic socket, since charging your car from a domestic socket will place the maximum load on the socket for approximately 4 hours. On the other hand, you can charge your car safely and almost twice as quickly using a 3.7 kW wallbox.
