The Charging and Energy Management system ChargePilot® from The Mobility House has proven itself as a system for business applications in the latest study by the ADAC (Germany’s largest automobile club). Yesterday the ADAC published the results of a study on the technical possibilities for charging electric cars simultaneously in private underground garages. During the complex test procedures, ChargePilot stood out due to its very sensitive and precise dynamic load control and its hardware-agnostic setup. In the context of the study the ADAC also examined closed systems for smaller applications from ABL, KEBA and Webasto.
An intelligent charging and energy management, which distributes the power available via the grid connection to the electric cars to be charged in a cost-optimized way, is becoming increasingly important. This is particularly important if several charging points are to be installed at one location or if they are to be integrated into existing energy management systems, for example. The Association of German Engineers (VDI) recommends the implementation of a charging and energy management system as early as when three or more vehicles are being charged at the same time, in order to control them locally depending on grid consumers (VDI 2166). An intelligent charging solution that can be scaled independently over time is therefore particularly important in larger residential buildings or at company sites. Precisely such systems were the subject of the ADAC study. Assembly, configuration and commissioning as well as static and dynamic operation in different load scenarios were examined. In addition, the entire functional scope was evaluated.
ChargePilot® convinced the experts of the ADAC in all categories: The system offers reliable protection against overload and unbalanced load and makes the best possible use of the power connection. A back-end view with live data, statistics and error messages also allows users to access a detailed analysis. Via the internet portal, the charging processes can also be controlled individually and adjusted if necessary.
Even if costs are slightly higher at the beginning compared to other systems, they will pay off quickly. By using ChargePilot®, annual savings of up to six digits are possible -on the one hand by not having to expand the grid connection and on the other hand by reducing annual service charges.
The ADAC also elaborates on the open architecture of the system: Since ChargePilot® relies on interfaces such as the Open Charge Protocol (OCPP), it can be combined with different charging hardware.
