The Warsteiner brewing group is making significant progress toward sustainability, advancing beyond just introducing electric vehicles in its fleet to also developing its own charging infrastructure.
Sustainability as a corporate philosophy
For years, the Haus Cramer Group has pursued a consistent strategy to reduce CO₂ emissions, with sustainability deeply embedded in its corporate philosophy. The brewery group plans to build three wind turbines at its headquarters in Warstein as well as a photovoltaic system at its Herford site. Additionally, the forklift fleet is being electrified wherever possible. Similarly, Warsteiner offers electric and hybrid vehicles for its employees.
"We are not waiting for diesel to disappear from the market to promote electric vehicles."
Daniel Schulte,
Head of Central Purchasing for the Warsteiner Group
Company car drivers can choose between diesel, hybrid, and electric vehicles. So far, about 15 percent of the relevant employees have opted for the electric option, often facing uncertainties when driving electric vehicles on long distances exceeding 300 km per day.
For those choosing electric cars, charging points are now being established. Forward-looking, the Haus Cramer Group is investing in its own charging infrastructure to support charging of company cars and, prospectively, private vehicles of employees already today.
A service-oriented charging solution
After evaluating several providers, Schulte chose our solution – previously, The Mobility House Solutions was recommended by Warsteiner Group’s fleet partner, Autohaus Rosier. During the selection process, we proved ourselves with a scalable solution and a strong offer.
According to the customer, the implementation by us was very professional: "From the initial site inspection to the proposal creation and the installation of the infrastructure, the technical support was flawless. The implementation went absolutely well and professionally. The explanation of ChargePilot was also professional and easy to understand," says Daniel Schulte.
Scaling after just one year
The basic conditions for installing charging infrastructure at the site were excellent. Since the start of the project, nine charging points have already been installed, and four more are planned at the Warstein site, which has 600 employees, after just one year of use. Step by step, a total of 18 charging points are expected to be set up across the Warstein, Paderborn, Herford, and Fürstenfeldbruck locations. A future-proof solution is especially important: “Our long-term goal is to offer all employees access to attractive charging options,” says Schulte.
Insights for the future
One of the key lessons for the Haus Cramer Gruppe was that billing should be considered from the very beginning within the company. “When companies build their charging infrastructure, they should involve accounting and human resources early on,” recommends Schulte. “Publicly accessible charging stations or charging points on company premises all have tax implications that should not be underestimated.”
Electromobility with strategic foresight
By gradually electrifying its fleet, the Haus Cramer Group is making an important contribution to sustainability—and is relying on The Mobility House Solutions as a partner adept at guiding both infrastructure and technical implementation to success. "Not only did the employees of The Mobility House Solutions support the infrastructure rollout, but their partners also played a key role in ensuring a smooth implementation," Schulte concludes.
