As Team Lead Front-Office, you will drive the core trading activities, ensuring efficient strategy execution, automation, and performance optimization. Reporting to the Head of Trading, you will lead a team of traders and analysts, focusing on commercial outcomes in volatile energy markets. Key responsibilities include:  
 

• Strategy Development and Setup: Design and implement bidding strategies for multi-market optimization, including day-ahead, intraday, and reserve markets.  
• Position Management: Oversee real-time position tracking, net exposure, and P&L monitoring in our Position Management System (or ETRM equivalent).  
• Execution and Connectivity: Manage automated trade execution via proprietary tools and external platforms (e.g., PowerBot), ensuring seamless connectivity to exchanges.  
• Algo Trading & Automation Readiness: Lead the development and deployment of algorithmic trading solutions for spot and reserve markets, emphasizing scalability and reliability.  
• Research and Backtesting: Conduct market research, backtest strategies, and optimize algorithms based on marginal costs and risk profiles.  
• Self-Optimization of Strategies: Drive continuous improvement of trading tactics, incorporating options-like structures (e.g., batteries as chains of 15-minute options).  
• Reliability and Reporting: Ensure system stability, minimize operational risks, and generate performance reports for compliance and decision-making.  
• Backlog Management and Prioritization: Prioritize team tasks, ensure clarity on priorities and delivery timelines, and align with business goals to maximize profitability.  
• Team Leadership: Mentor and develop your team (5-8 members), foster a high-performance culture built on ownership, accountability and continuous improvement, and collaborate with Middle/Back Office and Tec-Team.

• Proven experience (4+ years) in energy trading, preferably in battery energy storage systems (BESS), renewables, or power markets.  
• Strong background in front office operations, including algo trading, trading position management, and multi-market optimization.  
• Expertise in financial mathematics, options trading, risk assessment (e.g., VaR, MtM), ai-coding and/or tools like Python or similar development tools.  
• Familiarity with European energy markets (EPEX, IBEX, TSO reserves) and regulations (REMIT/REMIT II).
• Leadership skills: Ability to lead, take responsibility and enforce team structure, hold teams accountable, and make decisive, fair decisions to drive efficiency and P&L.  
• Degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field; advanced certifications (e.g., CFA, FRM) are a plus.  
• Excellent communication in English; German is advantageous.  
• Mindset: Results-driven, disciplined, with a strong commercial mindset with a clear focus on sustainable profitability, preference for structured, scalable and sustainable solutions over short-term fixes.
